Polynomial expansion for the axially symmetric Boltzmann equation and relation between matrix elements of collision integral

چکیده
Polynomial expansions are of widespread use in a gas kinetic theory. For linearized Boltzmann equation, such an expansion is a basis of the wide-known Enskog-Chapman method [1], [2]. For the nonlinear case, this method was developed in Burnett's [3] and Grad's [4] works. As it was proved by Kumar [5], the best time-consuming expansion is that over so called spherical Hermite polynomials. Along Burnett's treatment, we use the real non-normalised spherical Hermite polynomials

A Fast and Accurate Expansion-Iterative Method for Solving Second Kind Volterra Integral Equations
This article proposes a fast and accurate expansion-iterative method for solving second kind linear Volterra integral equations. The method is based on a special representation of vector forms of triangular functions (TFs) and their operational matrix of integration. By using this approach, solving the integral equation reduces to solve a recurrence relation. The approximate solution of integra...
متن کاملExpansion methods for solving integral equations with multiple time lags using Bernstein polynomial of the second kind
In this paper, the Bernstein polynomials are used to approximate the solutions of linear integral equations with multiple time lags (IEMTL) through expansion methods (collocation method, partition method, Galerkin method). The method is discussed in detail and illustrated by solving some numerical examples. Comparison between the exact and approximated results obtained from these methods is car...

متن کاملAN ALGORITHM FOR FINDING THE EIGENPAIRS OF A SYMMETRIC MATRIX
The purpose of this paper is to show that ideas and techniques of the homotopy continuation method can be used to find the complete set of eigenpairs of a symmetric matrix. The homotopy defined by Chow, Mallet- Paret and York [I] may be used to solve this problem with 2""-n curves diverging to infinity which for large n causes a great inefficiency. M. Chu 121 introduced a homotopy equation...
متن کاملDeriving thermal lattice-Boltzmann models from the continuous Boltzmann equation: theoretical aspects
The particles model, the collision model, the polynomial development used for the equilibrium distribution, the time discretization and the velocity discretization are factors that let the lattice Boltzmann framework (LBM) far away from its conceptual support: the continuous Boltzmann equation (BE). Most collision models are based on the BGK, single parameter, relaxation-term leading to constan...
